Poker

Using poker chips, a player tries to make the best hand. The cards are dealt clockwise around the table, with the dealer holding the button.

Players must wager before discarding their cards. A high card breaks ties, when multiple people have the same card. A pair or higher is the highest, and a four of a kind is the highest when two fours of the same rank are in play. A flush is all cards of the same suit, and a straight is all cards of the same value.

A wild card is any card that can be added to a poker hand. This card can take any suit. Some games specify a specific wild card, while others use a multi-pack.

Each hand is dealt five cards. A player can discard up to three. They can re-distribute the remaining cards to improve their hand. When there are no more cards to be discarded, the betting phase is over.

The last round of betting is called Showdown. After the final round of betting, a player is the winner if he has the highest hand. If a tie is reached, the second highest card is determined. A player can also bluff his way to victory.

If a player has a flush, a four of a kind, a straight, or two pairs, he wins the pot. The opponent cannot add more hero calls. A pair of kings is not a good hand off the deal, but it is not bad off the draw.
